Our Story starts with the Artist behind the Brand...
Silver Leaf Costumes is an artist-run company that provides quality historical-inspired costumes and leather accessories. Owned by fashion designer Laura McCraw, Silver Leaf Costumes has been bringing their vision to the costuming industry since 2003. Through custom designs items they take great pride in their products, handmade from start to finish. Using designer fabrics, hand-tooled leather and re-purposed antique components they have created a look that is highly recognizable as being synonymous with quality and creativity.
Silver Leaf Costumes enjoys an expansive following and client base that includes pop celebrities AJ & Aly; creators of the web comic Girl Genius, Phil and Kaja Foglio, and others. Their work can be seen in the official book trailer for The Janus Affair, the second volume in The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences series from Harper Voyage. It can also be seen in online Steampunk short film, Nickel Children, shown at conventions all over the US and in Mexico. One of their most recent fans, the writer/director/producer Guillermo del Toro said he “loved their work,” and purchased some for his very own.
Laura Specializes in Unique Handmade Costumes
Laura's interest in fashion was fostered by her grandmother and long trips to the mall together every summer. As she grew older, Laura started to learn about the Middle Ages, eventually visiting Europe and finding herself enraptured by the beauty, history, and design of the Medieval and Renaissance periods.
On her return, Laura focused on the fashion program towards costume design and began working in small Renaissance festivals. After the birth of her first daughter, Laura knew this business was not just her own, but a legacy for her children as well.
Laura and her daughters traveled to various shows around the country as Silver Leaf grew into the company we all know and love today!
Laura now resides in North Texas with her girls, and everything she does is for them. She enjoys traveling to shows to connect with customers, and she can't wait to meet you soon!
